LAST UPDATE: NOVEMBER 2011 |
About the National Action Plan People who consume generous amounts of fruits and vegetables as part of a healthful diet are likely to have reduced risk of chronic diseases and better weight control. Yet Americans are not meeting their consumption goals, despite years of efforts by government, nonprofit, and commercial organizations. With the release of the 2005 Dietary Guidelines for Americans, which included a large increase in the recommended amount of fruits and vegetables, the National Fruit and Vegetable Alliance believed a new approach was needed to increase consumption.
